Liked it! Had a lovely clean, comfortable and compact room. Slightly dated, and basic but then the room wasn't expensive.Situated above a big pub restaurants, with a large car park. I slept well, but please note it's not central to the city good few miles out.
Me as a Family of five sayed ere 27th october 2018 to meet friends ,we met in Lanzarote that live close by as we are from oldham , we found that old grey mare pub/hotel very welcoming the staff was friendly the food was amazing , kids enjoyed (11-8&2) , was clean the rooms was fab the beds were so comfortable, didn't want to get out lol ,,overall we had a really brill Stay and we already have booked again xxx
The Old Grey Mare is a flaming grill pub with a good night's Inn attached. It consists of a number of rooms above the pub. There lies the problem. The rooms are comfortable enough if a bit dated, but it is very noisy till the pub closes about midnight. No chance of an early night. However the pub itself served good food and is reasonably priced. It's well located especially for Hull University which is across the road.
Very small room with a small double bed. Even then there was no space to walk round the bed, very tight. Bathroom was large but door lock broken, hole in door where fittings had fallen off, shower control was broken. Accommodation was therefore very disappointing. The staff however were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was superb for the price. I had a meal one evening and it was very good value for money. The rooms really let the place down and need a complete overhaul.
Opposite University of Hull, large car park, recently renovated to a very high standard. Spotless and staff friendly and welcoming. Large breakfast 5.99 was outstanding, will definitely be visiting again!
